Careers & Education Expo, Tuesday 1st November

There will be a host of career and education providers coming along to the High School on Tuesday 1st November.
There is a prepared program of information sessions for grade 7 through to grade 10 with an expo occurring around these which is open to all members of the community.
The providers attending include: Australian Maritime College, University of Tasmania, Polytechnic, Centrelink, Work & Training and the King Island Council.
Parents of students, friends, siblings and all community members are very welcome to attend the expo which will be set up in the new BER centre at the high school.
The two expo session times are:
11am to 12.30pm
2.20pm to 3pm

UTAS has a number of courses available to be studies via distance, including education, business and maritime studies courses. Come along to the expo and find out more!

King Island Golf Club Open Championship 2011

5 - 6 November, anyone with an AGU Handicap can participate. The course comprises 9 holes with 12 greens. Competitors from all over Australia participate in this two day event which attracts over 100 golfers. Details of program will be provided closer to September 2011.
This year coinciding with Wickham Lighthouse 150 Year celebrations.


The King Island Racing Carnival

The King Island Racing Carnival is one of the few events that has been able to continually operate for more than 100 years and the Racing Club is very proud of being able to achieve such longevity.

The Carnival is made up of seven meetings and caters for both Harness and Thoroughbred Racing.

Race Days
Races start at approximately 12:30pm on the above days and depending on the number of races held per day, finish at approximately 4pm.
Entrance fees are $7 per person and the cost of the local Race Day Booklet is $3.00.

On Course Betting
TOTE Tasmania have a presence of two staff in the top bar and two staff in the TOTE betting area, and a guest bookmaker "Honest Howie" is also able to take your bets.
Televisions screening Sky are in the top and bottom bar and also in the TOTE betting area for punters to view.

How to get the Track
The racecourse is located at Racecourse Road, Currie, which approximately 5km north from the town centre.

Providing internet access (locals & visitors welcome), one on one computer training, computer courses held regularly, online learning through TAFE, University etc, one on one computer support, hire of Online Access Centre Computer room for Business & Community Organisation training.
